Garrett scored 20 unanswered points after the Adams Central Flying Jets took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, handing the visitors their first regular season loss in years and making a big statement in local 3A football.
The Railroaders, who did appear in the preseason polls for the state 3A rankings this week, outgained the Jets 213 yards to 84.
The Jets got on the board first with a touchdown late in the first quarter by Braylend Reber, who caught a pass from Jamison Roach for seven yards and the score. AC had half of their total yards for the game in that one scoring drive.

After that, it was all Garrett.
Three second-quarter touchdowns for the Railroaders doomed the Jets’ hopes of victory.

Roach finished 4 of 11 in his first start at QB, throwing for 38 yards and the touchdown. He was sacked four times.

The Jets struggled to find any significant ground game, with Matt Heiser leading the way with just 26 yards on eight tries. Roach led the team in carries with 12 and also had a 12-yard run, the longest for the team Friday.

Cam Ruble picked up 84 yards and a touchdown to help the Railroaders.
Quarterback Calder Hefty completed just two passes, but one was a touchdown, and he also gained 75 yards on the ground himself, scoring a touchdown in that fashion, as well.

Max Kaehr led the Jets in tackles with 16.
Adams Central will look to bounce back in Week 2, but they face a formidable foe in Eastside. Follow WZBD again next Friday for another week of Jet football coverage.
