A crash in northwest Indiana between a vehicle and a semi truck left both drivers dead Tuesday in a tragic accident.
Officials in Newton County report that Blaine Tonner and Wayne Heminger both died as a result of the crash, which happened near the stone quarry on US 24, just east of Kentland.
Heminger, 73 years old from neighboring Goodland, reportedly failed to yield at an intersection at County Road 50 E and 1550 S, forcing the semi truck off the road, where it caught fire.
The driver of the semi truck, Tonner, was pronounced dead at the scene. Heminger later died at a local hospital.
Blaine Tonner was a recent graduate of Southern Wells High School. His obituary can be found here. Recently married, Tonner and his wife were expecting their first child in February.
