August shapes up to be a major entertainment month in Decatur.
In addition to the last five weeks (four left) of the Decatur Chamber’s Thursday night concert series, the Motor Sports Festival, Germanfest, an Artisan Craft Market and the Festival of the Kekionga are scheduled.
The Motor Sports Festival will be held this Thursday, August 8, from 4 to 9 p.m. on Second St. downtown. (Registration is 4-6.)
The popular Bulldogs will take to the Madison St. Plaza to play from 7-9 p.m.
Germanfest is on tap Saturday, August 17, 5-10 p.m.
German food and German beers will be available and music will once again be provided by the Klaberheads from Cincinnati.

No admission will be charged.
The three-day Festival of the Kekionga will be held in the open area behind Riverside Center from Friday, August 23, through Sunday, August 25.
As part of the festival, a special Decatur Artisan Craft Market will be held in Riverside Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 24. (For vendor space, contact Mary Montgomery Byer at decaturartisanmarket@yahoo.com)
The annual series of craft markets, held on the second Saturday of each month, will kick off a seven-week run on October 12.
In addition to all of that, the Adams County Historical Society will hold an Open House at its museum in Decatur from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 11.
