As restoration work continues at the Dugan Mansion in Decatur, Adams County Historical Society officials remain uncertain when the museum will open for the summer.
“I wish I could give you a date,” said Sandra Collier, president of the society’s board of directors. “We are waiting on painters to finish up. We are excited to show it off.”

An Open House will be scheduled when the museum is reopened.
The annual car show at the museum is scheduled for Sept. 8.
VOLUNTEERS: The museum operates with an all-volunteer board and staff, and two of those volunteers are the husband and wife team of Mary and Jack Bertsch (pictured below).

Mary is on the museum board and often works quietly and diligently behind the scenes coordinating volunteers for the many museum events and fundraisers, including the annual Haunted Mansion, officials said.
“She is a integral part of ensuring each museum docent knows what to do and when they’re scheduled during the summer,” they added.
Jack also is on the museum board and often works quietly and diligently behind the scenes on landscaping and mowing needs.
He also takes great care of tough maintenance and restoration projects inside the museum and annex, officials said.
