Recent Bellmont High School graduate Carly Gilbert, who will begin playing for Morehead State this fall, has reached the final four of the Women’s Premier Soccer League after a thrilling set of victories this past weekend in Sioux Falls.
FC Pride are now one of the last four teams in the national tournament. The 2024 version of the league began with 143 clubs from across the country.
After beating FC Milwaukee Torrent in the opening playoff game 4-1, FC Pride defeated the top team in the nation, Sioux Falls City FC, in a shootout.
That win pitted the team against Union KC for a spot in the final four and Gilbert’s team succeeded 2-1.
FC Pride will now travel to Oklahoma City to take on Charlotte Lady Eagles for a spot in the national championship. The other two semifinalists are California Storm and Clarkstown Soccer Club from New York.
