The Adams County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to US 27 north of Decatur early in the morning Thursday at 2:53 a.m. to the area of the intersection with 100 W (just north of 900 N) for a vehicle crash.
According to Sheriff Dan Mawhorr, deputies on the scene identified the victim in the motorcycle accident as Cody J. Huntley.

The 25-year-old Huntley was traveling southbound on 100 W on a 2011 Harley Davidson when he did not make the bend that comes before the intersection with US 27.
Further investigation by the department concluded that Huntley went through the yard of a house at the intersection and down an embankment near the highway. Huntley was then thrown from the vehicle.
A passing motorist notified the authorities when Huntley was noticed as the driver passed by.
Life-saving measures were initiated by emergency personnel, but Huntley succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
This incident is still under investigation by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the
Adams County Coroner’s Office.
