Alice L. Shannon, 98, formerly of rural Poneto, passed away at 1:15 AM on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Five Star Residences of Fort Wayne, in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on Saturday, January 2, 1926, in Lafayette, IN. She married Donald Shannon on Sunday, June 18, 1944, in Wabash, Indiana. Alice was a 1944 graduate of Chester Center High School. She had attended the Church of Christ in Montpelier, IN. Mrs. Shannon was a homemaker. She had been a resident of Chester Center Township for 54 years before moving to Bluffton in 2007.
She is survived by her son – Richard (wife, Karen) Shannon, La Otto, IN, daughter – Dixie (husband, Dale) Easton, FL, son – Edward (wife, Kathy) Shannon, Fort Wayne, IN, 4 grandchildren; Craig (Michelle) Shannon, Huntertown, IN, Julie (Dan) Roberts, Litchfield MI, Stephanie (Jeremy) Wagner, Arlington, TX and Stacey (Darrin) Mullis, Boise, ID, 10 great grandchildren 4 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband – Donald, father – Ernest Reeve, mother – Margaret Edna (Pickering) Reeve and her brother – Ernest Reeve
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St. Montpelier, IN on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Friday, June 21, 2024, one hour prior to the service.
A service to celebrate her life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024, with pastor Dewey Zent officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Montpelier, IN.
