Shelby Jean Evans, 63 of Bluffton, passed away on Thursday evening, May 23, 2024, at her residence in Bluffton, surrounded by her loving family.
Shelby was born on September 28, 1960 in Fort Wayne, to James Wayne and Nancy G. (Turnbow) Chandler. She graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1979. She worked as an associate for L.S. Ayres and JCPenney. She was a CNA at Miller’s Merry Manor, a QMA for American Nursing, and retired from the Norwell High School cafeteria.
On September 10, 1983, Shelby and Burk Evans were married at Holy Cross in Fort Wayne. They shared 40 years of marriage together.
Survivors include her husband, Burk, of Bluffton, her children; Tara Jean (Matthew) Hattery of Cumming, GA., Jerod Wade (Kaitlin) Evans and Megan Shelby (Tyler) Morrow, all of Ossian, along with eight grandchildren who lovingly called her “MaMaw;” Arianna Callantine, Shyanna Morrow, Kade Sarrazin, Kinsley Evans, Ollie Hattery, Sutton Evans, Waylon Evans and Burkley Morrow. She is also survived by her stepmother, Ruth Ann Chandler of Ossian, along with her siblings; Rebecca (Marshal) Kunderd, of Fort Wayne, Scott (Jeni) Chandler, of Huntington and Stephanie (Drew) Sauers, of Columbia City.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Nancy, and her brothers; Stephen DeWayne Chandler, James Michael Chandler and Wayne Edward Chandler.
Per Shelby’s request, no formal services will be held.
Memorial may be made to Cancer Services and directed to the funeral home.
