Warmer weather is here and so, too, are numerous events on the Madison St. Plaza in downtown Decatur – including the third annual edition of Connor Brite’s Wildflowers celebration.
This year, for the first time, the Wildflowers event and the Decatur Sculpture Tour are being held on the same day, Saturday, June 8.
The sculpture unveiling is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the courthouse and the Wildflowers celebration is due to start a 5 on the plaza, continuing until 11 p.m.
The Wildflowers special is held each year to honor the memory of Connor Brite, one of three victims of a tragic traffic crash, and to raise funds to support the Wildflowers music program offered free of charge to Adams County students.
The fourth session of the music program begins in June and the program continues to grow.
The June 8 event will feature live music, food, adult beverages, and more, including the sale of special Wildflowers T-shirts ($15).
T-shirts are available now online at the Connor Brite Wildflowers website: www.cjbwildflowers.com They will be picked up at the concert.
Music will be provided by the School of Rock, Penny Drip, the band Decades, as well as a performance by two Wildflower students!
The event will be held rain or shine, organizers said, with Riverside Center as a backup site.
Supporters can donate on the website, the day of the concert or mail to: Connor Brite’s Wildflowers 4346 N 100 E Decatur, IN 46733 (it is a 501c3 for anyone wanting a tax credit).
