The Heritage Patriots didn’t have to worry about the weather outside Thursday night as they played in the dry gymnasium while the baseball and softball teams were getting rained out, beating the Northrop Bruins three sets to one, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19 and 25-21.
Zeke Litchfield led the team in their first game since Monday’s announcement that the sport had received full sanctioning for 2024-25 by the IHSAA with 12 kills.
Graham Simmons had three blocks and eight kills, while Braden Walter had three aces and seven kills.
Freshman Chase Buuck finished with an outstanding nine aces in the match. The libero also had five digs and handled 17 of 18 serves received.

Eli Tigulis led the team with 25 assists.
The Patriots are preparing for next week’s sectional, where they will travel to Homestead to take on New Haven Thursday in the opening round.
