On Saturday, April 6, from 9 AM to 3 PM the Decatur Police Department will be hosting a UTV / Golf Cart registration day. As the weather gets nicer, we will be seeing an increase of these vehicles being brought to the PD to be registered. Our goal with this event is to help serve the community better by having staff onsite exclusively for this registration process to help make it go faster with less wait times for you the owners.
A few things you should know and have with you prior to arriving to register your vehicles;
Golf Carts: There is a $30 fee associated with this registration. We will only be accepting cash payments for this event, we are unable to accept payment via cards. Also, make sure you bring your proof of insurance with you. The registration sticker must be placed on the rear of the vehicle in a visible location.
UTV’s: There is no fee associated with this registration. However, your vehicle must be registered with the State of Indiana prior to being registered with us. Also, make sure you bring your proof of insurance with you. The registration sticker must be placed on the rear of the vehicle in a visible location.
The new style of registration stickers has a unique five (5) digit number. This registration number will remain with the vehicle for its life, similar to a boat hull identification number. Moving forward year to year do not remove your registration sticker. You will be given an annual renewal sticker that you place atop the old one signifying what year the registration is for.
