On March 1, 2024, a Berne man was arrested after driving his vehicle 117 mph, on US HWY 27 between Monroe and Berne.
Adams County Deputy Sheriff Clayton Henkle was on routine patrol, traveling northbound on US HWY 27 between Berne and Monroe when he tracked a southbound vehicle at 117 mph. Deputy Henkle turned around to catch the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle, a 2012 Chevy Cruz, came to a stop in the 4000 block of south US Highway 27 without issue.
When Deputy Henkle approached the driver of the vehicle, Marcus Walton, age 34 of Berne, explained to Deputy Henkle that he was upset over some personal issues and that was the reason for the way he was driving.
Deputy Henkle initiated an investigation for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and transported Walton to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office for further testing, and was later arrested, as WZBD’s Rob Weaver tells us more on those charges among the arrests made…
