Make it eight candidates for three at-large seats on the Adams County Council, and a race for the District commissioners’ seat – all in the Republican primary.
That is the result of filings in the past two days at the county clerk’s office.
Noon today is the filing deadline.
Kimberly Ann Brandt on Wednesday filed her candidacy for the District 1 seat on the county commission. She will oppose incumbent Stan Stoppenhagen.
Brandt, creative/art director of the HIVE cultural center in downtown Decatur, is a city native and Bellmont High School graduate.
Brandt took the HIVE post a few months after retiring as 911 coordinator for Van Wert County Ohio in 2021.
Meanwhile, James J. Voglewede has joined the large field seeking at-large seats on the county council.
Also a Bellmont grad, Voglewede spent eight years as first deputy in the county clerk’s office before becoming county clerk for two terms.
All three at-large council incumbents – John Summers, Cathy Mitchel and Dennis Blumn – are seeking new terms. Also in the GOP primary field are Shawn Hamrick, Lance Fletcher, Gina Melcher and A.J. Bertsch.
