Project 97 of 100 recently completed by Adams Health Network (AHN) to mark the 100th anniversary of Adams Memorial Hospital gave a big boost to the Hero Meals program in Decatur.
Hero Meals provides free, nutritious meals to elementary school students in the North Adams district. It is designed to ensure the students have access to nourishing food through weekends and holidays.
Volunteers gather each week during the school year (except on school holidays) to pack food into bags which are presented to students at the school.
All the food is donated by various individuals and organizations.
Adams Health Network collected 68 boxes, 5 bags, 18 bars and 16 packs of cereals (a portion seen in photo) to be used by Hero Meals.
“Our incredible staff at Adams Health Network came together for a Cereal Drive to support a wonderful cause — Hero Meals …,” AHN said in a Facebook posting. “Thank you, Hero Meals, for the incredible work you do!”
