The Adams County Community Foundation recently announced a grant to Stillwater Hospice for support of those needing hospice care in Adams County. Stillwater Hospice is a community-based, non-profit agency that provides home health, hospice and palliative and grief support to Northeast Indiana. Stillwater compassionately provides these services to anyone who qualifies as a hospice or palliative patient, regardless of their ability to pay. These services provide peace of mind for patients, as well as allowing the family to focus on having meaningful final moments with loved ones.
Bonnie Blackburn-Penhollow, Stillwater Hospice grant writer, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for this support, which has helped provide care and support for Adams County residents. Bonnie noted that in 2022, Stillwater provided care for 251 Adams County residents through the hospice and palliative programs.
Louise Ray, ACCF Board of Directors president and grants committee member, added that the ACCF is pleased to be able to support Stillwater and their mission to comfort and help Adams County residents.
This ACCF grant was made possible through the Kevin & Becky Cochran and Glen & Phyllis Zimmerman Community Enrichment funds.
The Cochran family fund was established in recognition of their community involvement. They are parents of three children: Matthew, Douglas, and Crystal all of Decatur. Becky, respected business owner (Cochran CPA), has served as a volunteer on many boards and committees, including the ACCF, PTO, & Relay for Life. This fund is to provide annual support to many organizations in this community.
Glen and Phyllis (Gerke) Zimmerman were married in 1956 and continued to attend Zion Lutheran Church all their lives. Glen was owner and operator of their farm in Root township and an employee with auto sales while Phyllis was an employee at the General Electric in Decatur Plant for 39 years. The intention of this fund is to provide an annual tribute to this hardworking family, to remember their service to our community, and to provide continued support for many years into the future.
