Former Fort Wayne TV anchor Brien McElhatten made his debut on ABC4 in Salt Lake City on Monday.
He joined Emily Florez at the news desk, alongside chief meterorologist Alana Brophy and sports director Dana Greene for newscasts at 5, 6, and 10 p.m.
McElhatten took the Salt Lake City anchor post after being abruptly fired last August by WPTA-21 in Fort Wayne. After a 6 p.m. newscast, management pulled him from anchoring the station’s 7 and 11 pm. newscasts.
The station gave no explanation for its actions.
McElhatten and his wife, Decatur native Krista Miller, had been a husband-and-wife team news anchor team. She left the station in early October and will, along with daughter Millie, join her husband in Salt Lake City in the near future.
The daughter of Adam and Susan Miller of rural Decatur, Krista is a 2009 graduate of Bellmont High School. She studied at Butler University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in electronic journalism.
