As the City of Decatur’s annual leaf collection nears its end, planning for the upcoming winter weather is already moving ahead.
Friday, December 8, will be the final day for the leaves to be taken from curbside.
“So we’re asking people to get their leaves out on or before December 4 to give our crews enough time to get them all collected,” Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert told Decatur City Council at its latest meeting.
Anyone with questions should call the public works department, 724-3356.
This year’s collection was slowed by one of the city’s two leaf suckers going down for several days.
“Please get your leaves out sooner rather than later,” Gilbert said. “We’re now getting our equipment changed over, getting ready for when Mother Nature decides to go to winter.”
