One of Decatur’s most popular summer events, the DeKegger Homebrew & BBQ Fest, has taken its last drink. But have no fear, a replacement is being planned.
The Riverside Brewfest will be held in 2024, with the DeKegger going by the wayside after seven years.
Basically, several members of the Decatur Main Street bunch which first launched the DeKegger have moved on, leaving the planning and operation to a new group of people.
They have decided to make some changes in the event, including a new name and a new date: the Riverside Brewfest on May 11.

The brewfest will be held at Riverside Center, as it was for the first time last year, in September
“A new committee with wonderful ideas and thoughts are now taking over and we encourage you to go check their brewfest out,” said several members of the original committee in a Facebook post. “Please share the same love you did with us to them. Check out Riverside Brewfest. Thanks for the love and support.”
The earlier date was chosen, a city official said, to, in part, avoid the crowded summer events schedule.
