It was evident from early on Tuesday night that the Bellmont Braves just had too much defensive pressure for the Adams Central to handle and Bellmont’s long win streak against the Jets continued as Emily Bleke led the way for the home team with 14 points in a 62-28 victory.

The Braves had eight different girls score in a total team effort for the relatively easy non-conference win.

Adams Central did a decent job in the first half at breaking the Bellmont press, but they found few good shots once they cleared the time line. Their best quarter was the fourth quarter, where they knocked down four shots in eight minutes.

Ava Stafford’s three in that final quarter gave her the team lead in points with eight.

Bellmont knocked down five threes, while AC made four. The Braves went to the line 20 times, making 13 free throws.

The Braves started with Hailey Cole and Kamryn Jarvis both on the floor, clogging up the lane on defense and rotating post positions and wing positions on offense. Cole picked up a second foul early in the first half but was not called for another the rest of the way.

Bellmont got another good night from freshmen Kate Kitson and Lanie French, who had nine and eight points, respectively.

The end of the bench also got in on the action for Coach Heim, with Lillian Garner knocking down a three and Ella Franze getting to the line for one point.

The 5-1 Braves will enjoy a holiday week off before playing Blackhawk Christian Monday, while Adams Central will try to get back on track Saturday night at the RaiderDome at Southern Wells.
