Indoor walking begins at Bellmont Middle School on Monday, the Decatur-Adams County Parks & Recreation Dept. has announced.
Participants should enter the building on the Piqua Road side, using the door facing east, N43.
The indoor walking will be available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m., through March 23. Evening hours will be supervised by a park-rec employee.
Those walking must be in the ninth grade and up; no children eighth grade and below will be allowed on the track.
No strollers are allowed on the track.
Slower walkers are asked to use the inside lane.
Officials said 13 laps around the inside lane of the track equals 1 mile while 12 laps on the outside lane equals 1 mile.
“Walking/running at the indoor track at Bellmont Middle School is perfect during cold winter months,” a department spokesperson said. “If school is cancelled for any reason that day or it is a holiday, the track will be closed.”
