What started as early fireworks at Argyll Field Friday night turned into a blowout as Adams Central dominated their way to a 56-14 victory over Madison-Grant for their third straight sectional title.
The Jets started the scoring barrage early as Jamison Roach took the opening kickoff from the 10, broke three tackles, and scampered his way for the 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Madison-Grant answered back on the ensuing drive in just two plays, when Cole Stitt ran in for the 42 yard touchdown. Their two point conversion failed, leaving the score 7-6 with just 61 seconds gone in the game.
The ensuing kickoff traveled deep into AC territory and the deep backs watched the ball roll short of the goal line and a touchback. Jamison Roach then scrambled to pick up the live ball at the 2, and was eventually driven back and tackled in the end zone. The officials ruled that forward progress was stopped at the 2, preventing the safety, but the Jets went 3-and-out on that series.
Madison-Grant answered with a nine-play drive, where Maverick Miller ran it in from 3 yards out, and converted on the two point conversion to take the lead over Adams Central 14-7.
It was pure domination by the Jets from that point on, as they would score 49 unanswered points, scoring on seven of their next eight drives. Keegan Bluhm scored on a 6-yard run, while Jack Hamilton connected with Cam Smith on a 27-yard strike in the first quarter to bring the score to 21-14 at the break.
The Jets then scored on their first four drives in the 2nd quarter, started by Jack Hamilton as he would evade tackers in the backfield, run off left tackle and score on the 27-yard run. Hamilton later found Trevor Currie for a 36-yard touchdown throw, and he also scampered in on a quarterback sneak from one yard out. Following an interception, Hamilton found Currie again on the next play for a 48-yard score.
The Argylls fumbled it back to the Jets, and would try to score again just before halftime. However, the 44-yard attempt by Currie was just short, leaving the halftime score at 49-14.
The Jets started the second half forcing an Argyll turnover on downs, and scored for the final time on the evening as Max Hamilton ran it in from 5 yards out. The teams traded possessions throughout the remainder of the game under the running clock.
Adams Central improves to 12-0 on the season, and will be on the road again next week as they travel to Flora to take on Carroll for the Regional Championship.
