The City of Decatur has launched its annual leaf collection.
City employees began to operate on Monday the two trucks which suck up and grind down the leaves on site. “We began full-go Monday,” Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert said.

No set schedule will be followed, like the trash/recycling collection, since weather plays a key factor in the leaf efforts. “Mother Nature can play havoc with it (the pickups),” he noted.
Residents are asked to deposit their leaves at curbside “and we will get to them as soon as possible,” Gilbert closed.
