Yellow ribbons will mark Veterans Day in Decatur again this year, and these ribbons will be larger than in past years.
Appearing before Decatur City Council at its latest meeting, Susanna Worth (photo), representing Adams Post 43 of the American Legion in Decatur, asked for and received council’s permission to put up the yellow ribbons.
This year’s ribbons, she said, are larger than those used in the past. “These will make a statement,” she said.

The ribbons will go up the day before Veterans Day, Nov. 11, and remain in place for two weeks.
They will be seen on Second St. from Five Points to the Bunge North America office building, and on Monroe St. from Riverside Center to the railroad tracks.
