The new lights at the Formula Field ball diamond in the REV Sports Complex were tested this week and worked as anticipated.
It is the first of six diamonds in the complex to get lights, which are on four poles.
The lights were provided via a contribution of $125,000 from the Porter Foundation of Decatur.
Musco Lighting of Dublin, Ohio, installed the lights and Bleeke Electric of Decatur did the electrical work – as it has done on the non-diamond lights at the complex.

Decatur City Council approved an expenditure of approximately $14,000 to put an “adder” on one of the poles. It is not quite ready, but when hooked up it will shine in another direction and partially light the field of an adjacent diamond.
City park board president Larry Isch, following the lighting of the Formula field, said, “Now that one field is complete I am asking that the community come together and donate to help light more fields Just think, if we have 9,000 families living in Decatur and each family could donate $100.00 or more we could finish this project. No donation is too small. Please consider donating to help this project get finished. Let’s pull together. Let’s think of our youth in the community.”
