Adams Central (8-0) is the favorite in Sectional 44. The Flying Jets clinched at least a share of the Allen County Athletic Conference. AC has won both its intrasectional match-ups. They topped South Adams 48-0 Sept. 22 and Southern Wells 49-7 Sept 29). Madison-Grant (6-2) climbed into the Class 1A top-ten team. South Adams (5-3) also figures in the mix.
In Class 3A Sectional 27, Heritage (7-1) is enjoying its season since an 11-1 campaign in 2006. The Patriots are unbeaten against intersectional opponents with wins over Bellmont (34-0 Aug. 18) and Woodlan (26-0, Sept. 1) Delta (5-3) looks to challenge. Yorktown (4-4) is the only other challenger with a .500 record. Bellmont (0-8) lost both of its Sectional 27 match-ups the previously mentioned game with Heritage against Norwell (42-0 Sept. 8). The Knights (2-6) also had two games against teams from the sectional, again, the Bellmont win and a loss to Delta (34-16 Aug. 25)
Bluffton (6-2) plays in Class 2A Sectional 36. It’s a loaded field. It has Alexandria (7-1), Eastbrook (6-2) and Eastern (Green) at 6-2. Bluffton and Eastern did see any would-be sectional rivals. Alexandria went 4-0 versus teams in the bracket, and Eastbrook was 3-1.
