Adams Central’s Ean Brown kept his season alive Wednesday night with a win over Rochester’s Tanner Reinertz and advanced to the individual regional as one of the few local players still playing in 2023.

The 6-1, 6-0 victory came at Peru High School against his Zebra opponent and sets Brown up for a good ten days of practice before he competes again. The individual regional will be held at Kokomo High School on October 14th.

A victory on the 14th would send Brown to the IHSAA State Finals in Indianapolis, as there is no semi-state level in the single-class, single-elimination singles tournament. His record now sits at 16-6 after Wednesday’s win.
“He showed tremendous composure tonight,” said head coach Brent Doster afterwards. “His first serve was dialed in and his return of serve was the best it has been all year. I am just super proud of this young man on and off the court.”

In the team competition, Huntington North knocked off hosts Peru in a tight 3-2 match, while Homestead advanced with a sweep of Norwell, 5-0. The Vikings and Spartans will face each other for a spot in the Homestead Semi-State, which will take place this Saturday, October 7th.
