After an 0-3 start to the NE8 season, the Bellmont Boys dug deep Monday night, pushing the game against the New Haven Bulldogs into extra time and a shootout.
That close to an important victory, the Braves did not misfire.
The away side made all five kicks from the spot and went down Minnich Road with a victory to start their week, one that included three conference games in three consecutive days.
Senior Andrew James had the Braves’ goal in regulation and Xavior Palacios made 11 saves in goal to keep the Dogs at bay.

In the shootout, penalties were made by James, Karsten Hudson, Jake Hackman, Daniel Vogel and the final kick by George Gardner.
Palacios made the key play in the shootout, saving the fourth New Haven attempt to give Gardner the chance to win it.
