Two longtime educators, Deb Giessler and her late husband, Gary, were recently honored by the North Adams School Board.
On behalf of the two of them, Deb received the Be Braves Award.
Deb and Gary have given over 90 years to education, and Deb continues to do so today.
A retired kindergarten teacher, Deb is a part-time Title 1 teacher with North Adams. She also serves as president of the Monroe Town Council.
Gary served nearly 40 years with North Adams, including 28 years as principal at Southeast Elementary School. After retirement, he was truant officer for the school system.
Gary, of course, is well known for having initiated the highly successful wrestling program at Bellmont High School.
