PRESS RELEASE
On August 26, 2023 the Adams County Sheriff’s office received information that a Daniel E.
Secrest 53 of Mercer County, Ohio, was currently residing in Adams County and had active
full-extradition felony arrest warrants. The Sheriff’s office obtained information regarding
his location and any vehicle that he may be operating.
Deputies learned that Secrest had an active felony larceny warrant out of Ohio as well as
many past felony charges which included; Escape, Operating while Intoxicated, a number of
drug-related charges, Possession of a Dangerous Ordinance, Resisting Law Enforcement,
Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and various theft charges.
At approximately 6 p.m., deputies learned that Secrest was at a convenience store in Decatur,
as well as what vehicle he was driving. The Sheriff’s office was the first to arrive at the
location. Upon observing the Sheriff’s car, Secrest left the convenience store. Within a few
blocks, Officers from the Decatur Police Department and Deputies from the Adams County
Sheriff’s Office surrounded Secrest’s vehicle and conducted a Felony Stop on the subject.
Secrest was taken into custody without further issue. Deputies are charging Secrest locally
with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of
Paraphernalia, as well as the original Felony warrant out of Ohio.
Adams County Deputies were assisted at the scene by Officers from the Decatur Police
Department.
