Adams Central’s top two runners put the Jets into a very competitive position in Saturday’s opening varsity 5K at the Norwell Invitational, finishing a just a few points away in fifth place as Leo won the event with three top-ten finishes.
Madison Gerber beat out two other girls who were right on her heels to finish second in 21:11. Rowyn Norris dominated the race, taking first place by 38 seconds to lead the Lions.
Gabi Landis finished just outside the top ten in points, coming in just after three consecutive Yorktown runners with a time of 22:40.
Bellmont was led by Abigail Rudy’s 30th-place finish.
The Braves and Jets will both wait for the Bellmont Invitational next Wednesday for their next race.
