The Adams County Commissioners have voted to begin the process of closing the Golden Meadows County Home. The formal closing will likely take place in the coming year.
By a vote of 3-0 Tuesday, the Commissioners decided that Golden Meadows will close, based on a study of the facility and the cost involved in continuing to operate the facility, which has been in operation since the early 1900’s.
Commissioner Steve Bailey read a statement explaining the reasoning behind the planned closing of Golden Meadows…
Approximately 20 people still reside at Golden Meadows. Properly staffing the facility has become harder and harder the last few years.
At one time, nearly every county in Indiana operated a county retirement home. Now, there are only 8 left in operation in the state’s 92 counties.
An exact date for the closing of Golden Meadows has not yet been set. The Commissioners say they hope it can happen within the next 12 months.
