After kicking off their season at home with an 18-hole invite, the South Adams Starfires wasted no time prepping for the nine-hole head-to-head season by hosting DeKalb Thursday evening at Wabash Valley.
The Barons, one of the top teams in the NE8 conference, showed just how good they are with a blazing first-week score of 157 to win the match, but coach Chris Toledo’s Starfires had three girls finish with personal best nine-hole scores on the back nine.

While Julia Arnold did not have her best night at No. 1, the Stars got great play from Ady Toland, who finished with an outstanding score of 44. Brooklyn Green cut her score down to 51 and Sophia Orr made her varsity debut at the No. 5 spot with a 67.
The Starfires will be back in action Monday at McMillen in an ACAC quad with Heritage, Woodlan and Jay County.
