The Adams County Community Foundation announced this week that the Decatur Police Department was recently awarded a grant for training mats. The DPD has a room in the MERIT Center that is set aside for the use of defensive tactics and other mandatory training, which necessitates training mats for officers’ safety. The training mats will also allow opportunities for trained officers to open this space to the public, offering women’s self-defense classes and some public defense tactical training classes.
Jamie Gephart, City of Decatur Community Coordinator and grant writer, expressed appreciation of the grant from the ACCF. Cathy Stucky, ACCF Board member and grants committee co-chair, stated that the Adams County Community Foundation is pleased to support the Decatur Police Department with these educational training resources.
“The ACCF wants our law enforcement staff members trained so they can be as safe as possible in their positions.”

This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted funds sponsored by the Adams County Community Foundation and Don Wood Family Community Enrichment Fund.
