Over 200 Adams County 4Hers wrapped up Fair week by selling their animals in this year’s Livestock Auction on Thursday, and as the numbers continue to add up, nearly $120,000 will be given back by many area businesses to the 4Hers. The final numbers won’t be available until a later date as the auction clerks take in all the additional add ons to some of the bids. Among some of the highlights from the auction…
Among the 31 goats that were auctioned off, 10 year member Skyler Steiner had her goat sell for $1100, while Grayson Liechty’s went for $950.
In the poultry, Adalynn Schaefer’s Grand Champion Frozen Boilers sold for $950. The grand champion commercial meat poultry of Xavior Palacios went for $350.
In Dairy, Junior Showmanship Winner Logan Beer’s lot sold for $1500.
In the Beef auction, Burton LeFever, who showed the Champion Adams County born and raised and 4th overall beef steer, went for $1500, Logan Beer’s steer went for $1600, while Lindsey LeFever’s market heifer sold for $1200.
For Starter Calves, Grand Champion Maverick Dubach sold for $1100, 3rd overall Laney Trausch went for $1300, siblings Kley and Kale Beer had theirs sell for $1875 and $1850 respectively, and siblings Jonathan and Katelyn Borne each had their calf sell for $2000.
Javin King’s grand champion meat pen rabbit sold for $900, while reserve champion Janessa King sold for $700.
Representing Horse and Pony, Premier Showmanship winner Reagan Bollenbacher was sold for $1150.
In the sheep portion of the auction, Gabe Neuenschwander’s market lamb sold for $1300, Kerry Robinson’s breeding ewe went for $575, and Dalton White had his 5th overall market lamb sell for $450 and was also awarded the Clayton Schuck Memorial Scholarship.
And in the final, and largest portion of the auction, 76 swine were auctioned off. The reserve grand champion born and raised in Adams County and 3rd overall barrow shown by Kate Moser sold for $2100, Reagan Brite and Landin Schenkel each had their pig sell for $1600, while Elsie Huber’s barrow sold for $1550.
16 swine and 32 animals overall sold for at least $1000, and again, nearly $120,000 has been given from businesses back to the 4Hers.
