Decatur’s Madison St. Plaza was red hot once again Thursday night, this time thanks to the Red NOT Chili Peppers.
These Peppers, out of California, provided another large crowd with an energetic, pounding version of the original Peppers. Justin Pierce (right in photo) took the role of RHCP vocalist Anthony Kledis as he had the crowd rocking.
Bassist Jonathon Savage (left in photo), as Flea, was all over the stage as much as Pierce.
Marc Aliana was on the other guitar, while Steve Such handled drums, and at one point provided a sensational drum solo, the likes of which may never have been seen before on the plaza.

After the show, the band was off to Naperville, Illinois, then had a Saturday date back in Indiana, in Valparaiso.
The evening got off to a bright note as Savannah Zimmerman, a 10-year-old with a big voice, delighted the crowd. Her dad, Josh, provided accompaniment on the guitar.
Including the Fourth of July celebration, the NOT Peppers were the third consecutive tribute band to entertain local crowds, following Guns & Roses and Van Halen.
Two more tribute bands are ahead on the next two Thursdays, E5C4P3, playing the music of Journey, and Thunderstruck, bringing AC/DC’s rock.
