On June 30, 2023 a day camp was held for all Adams County Mini 4-H members at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Monroe. This year’s theme was “Welcome to the Farm!” Junior Leaders served as the “Camp Counselors” navigating Mini 4-H’ers through educational and recreational activities themed around the farm. Some of the highlights from the day included: learning to milk a cow, making farm themed crafts, having an egg relay race, and planting their very own flower! For lunch, the campers enjoyed hotdogs and side dishes provided by North Adams Community School Summer Lunch Program. A total of 80 Mini 4-H members and 20 Junior Leaders were able to come and enjoy the day. For more details about the “Welcome to the Farm!” day camp make sure to check out the slideshow that will be on display in the Mini 4-H project area during the Adams County 4-H Fair that takes place July 16 through July 20 .
Mini 4-H is a program designed to encourage positive development of children grades K-2nd grade. The goal for Mini 4-H is to help young children explore friendships outside the family; explore the items that will be available to them in regular 4-H; practice both small and large muscle control; and think about the ways people work together on projects.
