Local and area talent was on display Thursday night on the Madison St. Plaza in Decatur as Section Ate – with Donn Dunno of Decatur – performed in the fifth concert of the Decatur Chamber’s 2023 Summer Concert Series.
The crowd was a bit thinner than usual, which was no surprise given the air quality conditions and some threatening weather. But there was no lack of dancers coming forward to enjoy the music (see photo).
Bellmont High School students Addie Wagner and Sophia Fisher opened the show with their version of “Dancing Queen” by ABBA.
Then it was on to Section Ate, which has been together for some 23 years.
Dunno, an original band member who plays keyboards and does vocals, has lived at Old Bellmont Farms outside Decatur for 23 years.
Ohio City resident Bob Delgado plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and keyboards, and also is an original member of the band.
Another original band member and good friend, Jeff McIntosh retired about a year ago, Dunno said. His brother Jerry McIntosh, from Convoy, Ohio, who had been traveling with the band off and on for years, now has joined full-time, adding guitar, saxophone, flute, harmonica and vocals.
Tim Laukhuf from the Ft. Jennings, Ohio, area has been with the band for several years, playing guitar and other instruments.
Drummer Tim Goodwin hails from Paulding, Ohio, having joined the band a couple years after the original drummer had to retire.
Next Thursday’s concert will feature JUMP, a Van Halen tribute band.
