The Adams County Commissioners have given their support to a grant request that would fund a school liaison for the county Health Department. That liaison would work with public and private schools, and even all 47 Amish schools in Adams County. Such a position could aid in health education and hopefully help to stem serious health issues in the schools. The position would work with school officials and especially school nurses in dealing with various health issues. Although it has now been given approval by the Commissioners, it must still pass state screeners before going into effect.
Meanwhile, a sure sign of summer is the start of the chip and seal program by the Adams County Highway Department. The first areas to be chipped and sealed will be near the Adams County Fairgrounds in Monroe, ahead of the upcoming 4H Fair in July. Many other roads around the county will also be chipped and sealed this summer.
Also, a reminder that with the July 4th holiday being on a Tuesday this year, there will be NO Commissioners meeting that week, and will next meet on July 11.
