The Union Township Lions Club will once again this year be offering ice cream treats during the Thursday night Summer Concert Series on the Madison St. Plaza, with all proceeds to benefit various local organizations.
The Lions will be serving ice cream sandwiches, Snicker’s ice cream bars, M&M cookie ice cream sandwiches, and other ice cream treats as well as sundae cones (Drumsticks). Ice-cold water also will be for sale.
On the Fourth of July, before the fireworks, the club will be serving pulled pork sandwiches from Manley Meats following a large demand at last year’s event.
“Each night’s total sales will be given to a different local charitable organization,” a Union Lions spokesperson said. “The costs are being underwritten by a Thrivent Action Team grant which allows the Lions club to donate all of each night’s sales to each group. Representatives from each charitable organization are scheduled to be on hand to help serve and answer questions about their group’s mission.”
The Union Township Lions club is celebrating its 43rd year serving the Decatur area “and we would like to invite the public to learn out more about what we have done by talking to us Thursday night; and possibly join us in serving the community,” the spokesperson said.
