Nan Everett of Decatur locked the Riverside Center doors for one final time on Friday, April 28.
Everett retired after a 50-year career with the department. Most recently, she was leisure services manager.
“Thank you Nan Everett for an incredible career of 50 years and caring about everyone you served in this great community,” the department said on its website.
A ceremony to honor Everett is planned for Saturday, May 13, at Riverside Center from 6-8 p.m.
“What a great employee Nan has been for the parks department,” Decatur Mayor Dan Rickord said at a recent city council meeting. “I can’t imagine how many kids she has touched in all those years.”
