Another eyesore on Schirmeyer St. area is slated for demolition as improvements continue in that area.
Building/Zoning Superintendent Curt Witte recently told the city’s board of works and safety that the bedraggled home at 928 Schirmeyer has been purchased.
“We’ve been dealing with this one since 2019,” Witte said. “It’s been up for sale a couple of times and has finally been bought.”
It has to come down because “there’s no fixing this house,” he added.
The new owner, not identified, has asked the city to demolish the structure, then he will pay for the cost.
Apparently, a duplex will eventually be constructed on the lot.
“We’ve been seeing some improvements in that area and this is another step,” Mayor Dan Rickord said, praising the purchase and plans for a duplex.
