The drug drop box at the Decatur Police Department has a new look and some new innards as well.
The drop box is open 24/7 for people wishing to dispose of old and unused medications.,
The drop box, which has been at the Seventh St. station for several years, has undergone a paint job, but the biggest change in inside where a funnel system takes pills but not bottles.
“You just pour your medications out and into it now,” Chief Kevin Gerber said. “We’re just trying to eliminate wasted space (full of bottles).”
As it was previously, “you could throw a brick in there,” Gerber added.
