Perhaps what sets the Sweetwater All-Stars apart from other area bands is its horns section.
Marcus Farr on the trombone, Brett Kelsey on the trumpet and Sweetwater Sound and band founder Chuck Surack (left to right in photo, performing at Geneva on August 19) add something special to the band.
“I love the sound of solid players playing great arrangements,” says bassist Dave Martin. “The horns make the All-Stars special.”
The Fort Wayne-based Sweetwater bunch will be returning to the Madison St. Plaza on Thursday for a three-hour show.

This week’s show originally was to be the finale of the Decatur Chamber’s 14 in the 2023 Summer Concert Series. But a couple of rainouts and the Adams Health Network (AHN) have changed that, pushing the Thursday night entertainment well into September.
So Avalon Bay will perform on Thursday, Sept. 7, followed by the AHN presentation of The Bulldogs on Sept. 14, and the Journey tribute band, E5C4P3, will bring down the curtain on Sept. 21.
The Sweetwater All-Stars, who hit the Madison St. stage back on June 8, will perform from 6-9 p.m. Thursday.
The usual food vendors, adult beverages and the good stuff from Andy’s Coney Bar will be available.
