large collection of bulky waste in the city
Decatur’s second and final heavy trash pickup week of this year will begin next Monday, Sept. 14, and carry through the week.
The heavy items will be collected on the normal schedule for the collection of trash.
In the event of an unusually large number of items, city employees could run behind schedule, officials have noted.
Local residents are asked to have their heavy items at curbside by 7 a.m. on their collection day.
Items that will not be picked up are: home improvement materials, carpeting, appliances with Freon, and electronics.

RECYCLE CHANGE: The heavy trash week will be on a normal recycling week so the latter is being revamped.
Recycling will be held on two consecutive weeks, Sept. 21-25 and Sept. 28-Oct. 2 (the normally scheduled period).
After that, recycling will return to its normal every-other-week schedule, city officials said.
