Eli Rauner threw five innings of one-run ball to get Heritage back in the win column after a run of games where the Patriots lost three of four, beating the Tinora Rams 11-1 in six innings Thursday.
Rauner allowed just one hit – a single by Kolten Snyder – in the fifth inning. It was the only hit the Rams could muster all night. Rauner struck out two, then gave way to Beau Stoppenhagen, who got in an inning of work to end the game after just six innings.
At the plate it was more hot hitting by Corbin Saalfrank, who had a triple and a single, driving in two. Kingston Galentine and Lucas Taylor also had a pair of hits.
The Patriots have two more regular season games scheduled before the sectional opener against Mississinewa Wednesday. They’ll play Wayne Saturday at 10 a.m. and Canterbury at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
