Will Patterson was the star of Stars Tuesday night against Heritage and Bluffton. He broke a long-standing record in the long jump with his attempt of 21 feet and 7.75 inches. The record had been in the SA record book since 1982 when Jere Johnson went 21-05. Braden Bixler equaled that mark back in 2021, but Patterson surpassed it by 2.75 inches Tuesday.
Patterson’s winning time in the 100 was his best of the year and faster than last year’s sectional-winning time. His 11.15 was .41 seconds better than his previous best this year, clocked against Southern Wells.

It was a similar story for Heritage’s Lucas Weber, who ran a career best and beat last year’s sectional finals winning time with a 22.46 in the 200 for the first-place points.

Wyatt Comment (Heritage) set new personal marks in both throwing events, winning the shot and finishing second in the disc.

In the girls’ meet, South Adams sprinter Luelle Shoch won the 100 with an outstanding time of 12.82. It’s been several years since the Stars have had a girl break the 13-second mark in that sprint.

Kapri Bixler added another exceptional performance in the 100 hurdles, winning in 15.26 for a new career-best time for the elite Starfire runner.
