MONROE – Griffin Morgan’s home run in the fourth was the icing on the cake, but it was Easton Blair’s pair of RBI base hits in the first and again in the third that gave Bluffton a lead that they would not give up. The Tigers went on to a 6-1 win in ACAC play Monday night against the Adams Central Flying Jets.

The starting pitching matchup in the contest was a good one, with Axton Beste matching up against Joey Everett of the Jets. Beste did not last as long as his counterpart, but he did earn the W with four innings of one-run ball, striking out seven.

Everett went five and was saddled with the loss, striking out three. He drew two walks as the leadoff hitter for the Jets. Everett was hurt by three hit batsmen.

The Jets offense did their starter no favors, picking up just three hits in the ballgame. Andy Geels had a pinch-hit single, while Reece Hammond and Hayden Bluhm had base hits towards the bottom of the lineup.

Morgan and Blair each drove in three runs for the Tigers in the win.

The Jets are now 3-11 on the year after the loss. Jets’ fans can hear their team Thursday as they take on South Adams, while Tigers fans can hear their team on WZBD against Heritage on Tuesday on 92.7 FM.
