Derek Weaver was fantastic Saturday afternoon as the South Adams Starfires scratched out a 5-2 win against the Tipton Blue Devils, with the Starfire hurler striking out nine in just five innings of work to earn the victory.
Nine of the 15 outs recorded by Weaver in his five innings came via K, as he allowed four hits and two runs, walking just one. Working on a pitch count, Weaver went 77 pitches before handing it over to Kade Sprunger and Derek McKean, who both threw an inning to see out the game.

McKean was the star at the plate, reaching base three times with three singles from the leadoff spot. Weaver also had a double and an RBI.
Sty Pyle was back near the top of the batting order and he rewarded his coaches with a two-RBI afternoon and a stolen base.
The Starfires are now 8-10 with the win before they go to Woodlan Tuesday night.
