Decatur Main Street’s fifth annual Downtown Decatur Day this Saturday looks to truly be bigger and better than ever.
All manner of activities, for both adults and youngsters, are scheduled, with the event running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everything but a golf cart parade will be held on Second St. and the Madison St. Plaza.
Over 60 vendors will be participating in the Merchant Sidewalk Sale, and 5 local food vendors will be on hand, according to organizers.
Two dunk tanks will be going, at the Decatur Police Department booth and the Nick Rumschlag State Farm booth.
Fleetwood RV will have a motor home on display.
Also on tap are pro wrestling, 3 on 3 hoops, Big Wheel races, a baby crawl, a Kid Zone with a bounce house and more. And here’s something unique, local artist Shelby Nower will be painting a mural – on the cross walk between Monster Pizza and Sherwin Williams!
The wrestling will begin at 11 a.m. on the plaza, and admission will be free.
The 3 on 3 basketball is due to start at 9 a.m., with a $60 entry free and a $120 cash prize to the winning team.
The Big Wheel race will begin at 10 a.m., with registration at 9:30 at the Kid Zone. The event will be for ages 3 to 6, with a $5 entry fee. There will be several heats in each age group.
Registration for the baby crawl will open at 9 a.m., with crawling to start at 9:30 on the courthouse lawn. The top 3 crawlers will gain prizes.
The golf cart parade will get going at 10 a.m. at Riverside Center. The carts will travel the Greenway Trail and wind up at the downtown event. All proceeds will go to the Kekionga Project.
Razz ‘M Jazz will perform at 10 a.m.
The final event will be Summer Splash Pub Crawl, from 7 to 11 p.m.
