The school board at Adams Central Community Schools announced Tuesday evening that they had concluded their search for the next superintendent of the school district.
After Joel Mahaffey left midyear embroiled in controversy after an arrest, the district hired former North Adams superintendent Brent Lehman as an interim.
The district announced Tuesday that the new hire would be in-house with a press release:

Following an extensive search for the next superintendent that included collecting input from the community and staff, the Board believes Mr. McClure is the right person to lead Adams Central and serve as the district’s new superintendent.
With over 28 years of experience in public education, Mr. Mclure is a native of Adams County and a graduate of Adams Central. “Mr. McClure’s dedication to student success, proven leadership skills, and deep appreciation of our school’s culture led us to this decision.”
Per Indiana Code, Mr. McClure’s proposed contract will be available for public review on the district’s website, and the required public meeting is scheduled for the next board meeting on October 14. A complete transition timeline will be shared following the official vote to approve the slated candidate.
Aaron McClure has served as a teacher and coach for decades at Adams Central.

McClure’s stint as the head basketball coach at Adams Central began in 1999 and he has served as the boys’ coach for all but two seasons in that time.
